The NF90-4040 uses the same design and chemistry as the Mark I and the NF90-400 eight inch membranes.
The NF270-4040 & NF270-400 allows for a greater flow, but can pass small amounts of sugar as concentrate increases.
The NF90-400 & NF270-400 have been the traditional sugarbush membranes. The NF90-400, like the MARK I delivers exceedingly high retentions of sugars. However some prefer the greater production of the NF270-400 . See below specs/pricing/additional info:

The FILMTEC MARK I is a premium for maple sap element designed specifically for MAPLE SAP Concentrators and is sold only through original equipment
manufacturers. It uses the same membrane technology and design as the NF90-400 nanofiltration maple sap membrane.
The Mark I has a center tube (B-see spec sheet) inside diameter of 1.125 inches.
The NF90-400, like the Mark I, delivers exceedingly highretention of sugars.However, some maple sap producers prefer the greater retention of the
NF270-400. Both membranes have 1.5" ID tubes which allow greater unrestricted flow. Both membranes will be upgraded to the NF270-400/34i & the NF90-400/34i.
